Uchisen Updates + Help Wanted

こんにちは!
久しぶりですね😅 Sorry for the radio silence and lack of updates over the past few years! If there were a graph of uchisen updates, there would be a major drop coinciding with the birth of each of our children… However! After doing some deep thinking and soul-searching, we’ve realized that uchisen is more important than we’ve been treating it, and we want to return to being all-in.

In March, we welcomed a third member to the uchisen team: a developer who brings a lot of expertise and will help us develop a new version of uchisen – codenamed uchisen 2.0 (how original, right???).

uchisen 2.0 will allow us to have an iOS app, Android app, website, and desktop apps all from the same codebase. This means no more wildly-differing website and iOS app (and non-existent Android app… sorry guys)! We haven’t begun work on this new version yet and are still in the early planning stages, but that’s where you all come in.

Since this will be a new version of uchisen built from the ground up, we’re coming here to ask for some help: if you’ve used uchisen and would like to provide feedback and/or answer some of our questions about what to include or remove in uchisen 2.0, we’d be honored to take your input! Most of what we’ve created up until now has been what I’d personally want in a kanji/vocab mnemonic and SRS system, not necessarily what others have told us they want. So, we’d like to have an ongoing conversation to help shape uchisen into something truly awesome.

If you’re interested, please get in touch with me in any way - replying to this post, messaging me on uchisen Community (tap on my profile picture and choose Message), or email me at frankie@uchisen.com, letting me know you’re interested. I’ll try to make it worth your time!

Thanks for reading this and using uchisen
-The uchisen Team

Congratulations on your growing family! First, I would like to thank you for this amazing app. I’ve been a subscriber for over two years now. This app really helped me with kanji. Even though I tried different methods before, nothing helped like this app did. I’m not a visual person so creating connections between kanji writing and meaning helped a lot in memorizing both vocab and kanji. I would appreciate it if you could add an option where we can see lists of our “review” words and “learned” words. I would like to see the list of “added to learned” to track my progress. Thank you again
